If you’re questioning your gender or have realised you’re trans, these are some tips and online resources about some things you might be wondering about. You probably won’t be interested in all of them, and that’s normal, only do the things you want to do for yourself. Gender Construction Kit has good guides to many of these things as well, some of which are linked.

See if your college has a Gender Expression Fund here. If it doesn’t, you can put forward a motion to create one, or apply to the university-wide one funded by the LGBTQ+ Society. If any of the information for your college is out of date, you can let us know here.

As for changing details in the university system:
- You can update your preferred first name on Student Self Service here.
- This will allow you to apply for a new email address by contacting IT Services here.
- You should be able to ask your College Office for a new Bod card with your preferred name and/or updated photo.
- You can talk to the Porter’s Lodge to change the name on your pigeon hole.
- You can change your preferred gender marker and/or title (including to NULL (no title) or Mx) by contacting the Academic Records Office at [email protected].
- You can change your name on your student record by sending a deed poll or statutory declaration (for UK students) or updated passport (for international students) to your College Office, which will mean your degree certificate is printed with your correct name.
