Governing Documents

Constitution

The Constitution is the main governing document of the society. Its main purposes are to define the responsibilities of committee members, the procedures of committee meetings, and election procedures. You may find it useful to find out more about committee roles if you're considering running!

Code  of  Conduct

The Code of Conduct (formerly the Zero Tolerance Policy) sets out the way members are expected to behave at our events, to ensure they are as inclusive and safe as possible. Our policy extends to but is not limited to: homophobia, racism, transphobia, queerphobia, biphobia, misogyny, harassment, xenophobia, classism, antisemitism, islamophobia and ableism. We reserve the right to ask any individual to leave an event. Breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in the exclusion of individuals from events.

Complaints  Procedure

The Complaints Procedure provides the society means to enforce the Code of Conduct. If you feel an individual has broken the Code of Conduct at an ongoing society event, we encourage you to speak to an attending committee member, who can take action to insure inclusivity and safety.

If you are uncomfortable or unable to speak to a committee member, or the breach took place outside of a society event, please feel free to email the President at [email protected], or the welfare reps at [email protected] and [email protected], who may encourage you to make a formal complaint. Alternatively, you can fill out this feedback form.

A formal complaint can be made in writing to the Welfare Working Group via any committee member.

The Complaints Procedure is necessarily long and complicated. An unofficial but handy flowchart describes these internal policies in a more digestible way.
