Bisexual and pansexual definitions and resources

Some key terms

Bi-erasure
Bi-erasure (or bisexual invisibility) is the tendency to ignore, remove, falsify, or reexplain evidence of bisexuality in history, academia, the news media, and other primary sources. In its most extreme form, bisexual erasure can include the denial that bisexuality exists.

Biphobia
An aversion toward bisexuality and toward bisexual people as a social group or as individuals. It can take the form of denial that bisexuality is a genuine sexual orientation, or of negative stereotypes about people who are bisexual (such as the beliefs that they are promiscuous or dishonest).

Bicurious
curious about or open to exploring sexual relations with people of a different gender than those to whom one is usually attracted

Biromantic
Attracted to more than one gender in a romantic way, but not necessarily in a sexual way.

Panromantic
Panromanatic is an orientation generally defined by romantic attraction to people of any sex or gender identity.

Pan-erasure
Pan-erasure is the tendency to ignore, remove, falsify, or reexplain evidence of pansexuality in history, academia, the news media, and other primary sources. In its most extreme form, pansexual erasure can include the denial that pansexuality exists.

Monosexuality
Is romantic or sexual attraction to members of one sex or gender only.

Multiple gender attraction
Sometimes multi-gender attraction, is an umbrella term that includes any romantic or sexual orientation which experiences attraction to more than one gender. Such orientations include, but are not limited to, bisexuality, pansexuality, and polysexuality.

Polysexuality
Sexual attraction to multiple, but not all, genders. A polysexual person is one "encompassing or characterized by many different kinds of sexuality."
