College LGBTQ+ Rep

The rainbow flag
All colleges should have an LGBTQ+ rep, and they are normally happy to give advice on welfare related issues, although few are trained.

Student minds

A speech bubble reads
Student Minds also has an Oxford branch. They have a campaign, and a peer support group. Both can be reached via oxford@studentminds.org.uk
The main Student Mind site has a page for LGBTQ+ issues: coming out, gender transitionaing, supporting a friend, discrimination, exclusion, and further resources.

If there’s any issue that we can help you with, feel free to contact any committee member via email or in person, or message the Facebook page. Any discussion is confidential and if we aren’t able to help you out with your problem, we’ll try to point you to someone who can.

College welfare

A photo of an old Oxford college
Colleges may have Tutors or Deans assigned to student welfare, and some even have specific LGBTQ+ Welfare fellows. These people should be able to help with any college related issues.

Rainbow Peers are a branch of the peer support programme run by the University Counselling Service designed to support LGBTQ+ Students in Oxford. Contact via their Facebook.

COLLEGE NURSE

A photo of a nurse smiling at her paitient
Most colleges have some sort of nurse (perhaps shared with other colleges) who is usually around most days during the week who can be a first point of contact for questions. They are generally quite quick and easy to contact but may not have the right information to help you out with specific LGBTQ+ health-related issues.

LGBT OXon

A circle containing the words
A hub for finding community and support in Oxford. It provides lists of groups, advice for specific situations, and further resources.

 University CounsellinG Service

Generally regarded as lovely people, and easy to make an appointment with. Don’t be put off by the formal name, there really is no problem too small to see them. We have mixed reports as to their knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues.

college gp

Your GP may have more generalised training and expertise to help you with any issues. Depending on your college, you can either make an appointment directly or through the college nurse.
