Shaving tips from Gillette

How do I shave my legs and underarms?
Gillette Venus provide some very useful tips for beginners on how to shave body (not facial) hair:
  • A Beginner's Guide: How to Shave
  • Check out their YouTube channel if you prefer the video format.

In very brief summary of the above, there are four main steps to shaving body hair. Doing this in the bath or shower (without the water running) usually helps with the mess!
  1. Use warm water to open up the pores of your skin and soften the hairs for a closer shave.
  2. Apply a thin layer of shaving gel onto your wet skin to help maintain moisture and to provide a smooth surface for shaving.
  3. Glide a razor smoothly in the direction of your hair growth (“with the grain”). This prevents nicks and ingrown hairs. For a closer cut go for a second time against the grain.
  4. Wash off any leftover gel and hairs and use moisturiser so your skin doesn’t dry out.
